Oh, coconut how I love thee. Yes, it's true I have a huge love for everything coconut! I love the smell, the taste, the feel. I’d take a bath in coconut milk if given the chance (#bucket-list)!
Today I’m going to talk with you about my favorite coconut products: coconut water and coconut oil. I'm going to share the reason I love them, the health benefits they bring into our life and the many surprising ways you can put them to use.
I’m such a coconut fanatic that our editor made me break this up into two posts, so part one is below (coconut water), and part two (coconut oil) will be posted next week!
First off - YUMMY! I love the taste of it. Not all coconut waters taste the same though. There are a variety of brands out there and many of them are AMAZING, but nothing compares to the stuff that comes straight from the coconut itself. If you haven’t had coconut water right out of the nut, then stop reading now and put this on your own #bucket-list! Don’t forget - once you are done drinking the water be sure to crack the coconut open and eat the meat inside. It tastes absolutely delicious and it's super good for you - the perfect snack.
Where to Find The Good Stuff
Wholefoods sells whole coconuts, so it's easy to find. But If you don't have Wholefoods in your neighborhood or a coconut tree growing in your backyard (lucky you if you do!) there are many brands for you to choose from. My favorite right now is Pressed Juicery - they bottle it fresh.
Drinking coconut water offers many benefits:
- Coconut water is super hydrating. Many people call it “mother nature's sports drink.” It's full of electrolytes, so it's the perfect beverage for both pre, and post-workout.
- It's low in calories and fat
- It’s cholesterol free and full of potassium
Best of all - It is excellent for skin hydration and will keep you looking silky smooth in your bikini. I drink coconut water almost every day - give it a try!
